The “meta-identity”, “common citizenship”, non iden pol unity: that is Trump. No matter what race color or creed. But that isn’t good enough. The left insists on illegals voting, on affirmative action, on pronoun games. They won’t do civ nat patriotism. On them what comes next.

Give you an example: Trump never appealed explicitly to white Americans (at least not w/o also doing black, Hispanic etc.) despite them being 90% of his base. Whites are half of Clinton’s base but she routinely talked about other groups w/ whites noticeably left out of speech.

“For African Americans & Hispanic Americans & Muslim Americans & LGBT Americans!” That kind of thing was Clinton bread & butter at rallies. That doesn’t sound like unity or a “common citizenship” of whatever. Sounds like whites aren’t part of her conception of America to me.

Legit: what do we build this “meta-identity” & “common citizenship” off of anymore? One party wants open borders, so the population isn’t firmly set & assimilable. Can’t do common language (English), that’s racist. Can’t rally around the flag, that’s racist too.

Constitution? Written by racist & half the country thinks it’s a “living document” that contains abortion & gay marriage but doesn’t contain anyway to remove non-citizens. Far as I can tell: we all go shopping. That’s what’s left of a common identity in America. And even then...

Depending on where you go shopping & what you buy, that is problematic as well. Shoes brands can be racist, chicken restaurants are homophobic. Everything is politicized. Everything is controversial, even down to the small things. There’s nothing left to rally around anymore.
