    5/7 Was an app truly needed? No. Since caucuses are run out of physical locations, a simple web application would have sufficed for reporting of the results. An engine in a centralized location would have crunched the data fed to it (simple math) and reported the results.

    I am an example of this. I learned how to properly define a problem and then take it to logical conclusion as a result of my PhD. Not in academia and use it every day ...

    This bears repeating: PhDs who end up working outside the academy (for whatever reason) are not failures. The academy has no monopoly on great and important work. There are great success to be had in other sectors. Enough already with the professional elitism.
