Seems to me that it's 100% effective but the question is always one of being absolutely certain of guilt first.

I believe that's more humane than locking them up for the rest of their life. And I don't believe in killing the innocent. That would clearly be wrong - I think we can all agree on that.

No, I don't believe you got it at all. And I already said that the death penalty is dependent on being certain of their guilt so until that certainty is established then I agree that the death penalty is perhaps the second best choice. But we should always keep it in reserve.
