Now you want to focus on prevention and treatment. Should have done this years ago when you people at the top relegated drug use to people of color only.

As a retired nurse and mom, I’m excited to finally see some major movement on the drug addiction problem. Thank You President Trump!

Prevention is essential. Yet, treatment is screaming out for help because people are turned away everyday in every state in the U.S. There are not enough beds. Addicts asking for help need a place to go with insurance or without insurance.

Why not suggest to our President
@realDonaldTrump that#medical marijuana has already helped some off of their#opiate addictions,@SecAzar ? Surely you of all people KNOW it helps some patients, isn't that true? Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@secAzar We, the ones working in prevention in the communities every day found that putting efforts to support work among families are making a difference. Parenting classes are helping tremendously en our area...local Civic groups and churches on board are a key too! Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Yes! Addictions are medically treatable conditions, a key is assuring access to evidence based treatments that work. Thanks Mr Secretary for your leadership in this arena.

Making legal opioids inaccessible seems to be your idea of prevention (backed by bad statistics). More addicts die, because they merely initiate on heroin now (far riskier). Plus more addicts ARE dying (as predicted). That's what the "evidence" shows. Yet you do more of the same.

Ironically the Right Wing has ALWAYS treated addiction as a moral failing, which is what got us into this mess. Moralizing dotards like
@VP who opposed needle exchange programs and sex ed made the AIDS epidemic worse.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

the change in mindset also needs to be changed as well as having better options for pain management.

Someone please address http://CMS.gov payments to hospitals on scores related to pain control of patients. If pain is not completely controlled with narcotics ( in the pt’s mind) the score is lowered.

I never could understand why anyone would want to take opioids-I've been given them a few times after surgery. They made me feel groggy-in a bad way-gave me a headache-caused major constipation-Extra strength Tylenol worked better-Others have told me it affects them the same way!
-
Most people don't, which is why much fewer than 1% of the population is addicted. However, many people take them because they work and enable them to function. These people are having their medication yanked away, even though making legal opioids inaccessible kills MORE addicts.
