I reckon the UK should join the EU. Just a thought.

  2. It has been rightly pointed out that that right to work across the EU *will end* at the end of the transition. I should have said as long as you’re settled before 31/12 you can stay in the host country but onward free movement is not confirmed.

  3. A good example of what is to come BUT all Brits need to know that you *do have* the right to live and work in the EU during the transition. Difficult with aircrew (depends where based) but *as long as you settle before 31/12* that right will continue.

President : “every model comes with a balance of rights and obligations. The closer the UK wants to be, the easier the access to the Single Market.” The UK’s choice on this matter will determine how ambitious our future partnership will be👇

  6. Quite simply those numbers need to go down and it’s not “elitist” or “metropolitan” to say that. Nor is theirs a viewpoint we should celebrate or bend our politics for in order to accommodate. We’ve got a lot of work to do until we all celebrate each other as equals.

Extraordinary letter from Claire O’Neill. Politics aside, it’s required reading for anyone remotely interested in the process

  9. And Canada is not much better, frankly. The drift from “frictionless trade” and “exact same benefits” has been quite a journey. And at every step the necessary scrutiny and comparison to the 2016 campaign has been absent. Democracy demands the government be held to account.

On your left - 2020. Aaaand on your right - 2016. Never let it be said that the man is without shame.

Maybe I am being too rational here, but to push a country out of the biggest trading bloc in the world and take away the rights of millions of citizens to travel, work and live abroad in order to become more global is simply absurd.

When it comes to likely Brexit deal, we've gone from 'exact same benefits', to 'frictionless trade', to some friction, to now a choice btw Canada style deal OR what govt is calling Australia deal which is not a deal, but WTO arrangement with tariffs and the Irish protocol

Breaking/ just tried to ban certain national newspapers from a Number 10 briefing. This is truly sinister stuff. Hats off to the BBC, ITV, Mail, Telegraph & Times for walking out too in protest, rather than let him get away with it.

Britain is smaller and weaker than the EU. In today's world bigger and stronger players, like the EU, US and China, get their way. It really is as simple as that.

  20. I love the USA. But just as Trump is not the USA, neither is it America-bashing to point out the EU has *far higher* animal welfare standards than the US. Those standards were built up over many years by UK MEPs, UK officials and in conjunction with UK animal welfare charities.

It’s striking how many lies the Brexiters are still telling. Lying about a trade deal, the trade-offs involved, the EU’s position, the transition. Even with an 80 seat majority and having achieved their Brexit. What does that say about their confidence in their own project?
