$10,000 is a departmental budget for a small con, not a con budget. I have more for my AV budget at the con I manage the ballroom for. It’d pay for the hotel excluding f&b and I’d have to find grants/donations/ads in the conbook for the rest.

It depends on the scale of the event you're planning. A "con" can be anything from a giant event on the Scale of Dragon Con, to a small weekend event for 100 people. What kind of con is MorganCon? Big and beautiful, or small and sublime?

I've seen cons that were dozens of people playing board-games at the local library. Sounds like
#Donnacon is on a grander scale. - Još 3 druga odgovora

10,000 dollars is not as much as you think when it comes to conventions. Trust me on this.

I did have a local filk con (150 people, puget sound) tell me their budget was sub 10k) but sounds like that's not your thing.

I pocket the $10,000, leaving the people that were serious about running the event with the Bag, forcing them to make do with a Ball Pit that is soiled with urine hours after a crowd funding attempt largely fails. I am Dashcon.pic.twitter.com/nxpBjClzmD
