    Green Bay y'all.

    We have yet to have a low in the 30s this fall. We are on about 3 weeks of borrowed time. It is going to be very close on hitting the latest first 30s on record. We will set a new "latest 30s" in fall on October 23 if we manage to stay above 39 degress.

    This is what we sometimes call a fog ocean- where you can see the mountain tops above the valley fog. Fog this morning was dense from 81 to the Blue Ridge

    Some big concepts to think about from Susan and Parag. Increasingly, I get the sense that the rules of the 20th century are about to start fading into history.

    It's been warm in Wisconsin. Mark draws the picture from Milwaukee.

    This fall has felt more like summer than autumn. We are setting records galore. We have not been in 40s yet this fall. That is latest on record. No 40s since May 30th. 135 Days In A Row. Highs have been 65°+ since May 30th. 11 days in a row this month of 60°+. Old record was 5

    NASA folks largely coming to the same conclusion as their colleagues at NOAA about how the temperature is going this year. 2021 is gonna be one of the 10 warmest. More specifically...

    Global mean temperatures 1980-2020 snd predictions for 2021.
    Estimates for where 2021 will end up in global temperatures are at the low end of what I predicted at the end of 2020 (based just on ENSO and trend). Looking like it’ll be the 6th or 7th warmest.

    Maybe you hadn't heard of Geert Jan... but you should have. When asked, "How much did climate change impact an extreme weather event?"... his team at was instrumental in looking for a scientific and quantitative answer. Peace.

    Excellent thread.

    California, on statewide basis, is now experiencing its worst drought in observational record going back to late 1800s--narrowly beating out peak of last drought in 2014-15 (as measured by PDSI, a metric that takes into account both precip & temperature).

    Early October in DC is rapidly warming. Twice daily radiosonde temperatures at 850 hPa (~1 mile up) show a >4° C (7.2° F) warming over the last 50 years
