There will always be moments when you disagree with your commander, but I got news for you. That doesn’t matter As an officer in the @USArmy, you issue lawful commands as if they were yours. You own them even if you disagree You don’t subvert the chain of command like Vindman didhttps://twitter.com/seanmdav/status/1196804366675693570 …

Vindman just admitted to going behind the president's back, before Trump spoke with Zelensky, to instruct Zelensky on what policies he should pursue and what his posture should be toward the U.S. He already admitted in previous testimony that he told Ukraine to ignore Trump.

“Lawful” being the key. Never, ever, obey an unlawful command.

Amen! If those orders come from trump, 90% chance they’re unlawful or based on a lie.

I second Sean’s take on this. It is one of the most basic tenants of officership.

*LAWFUL. LAWFUL ORDERS. that is the key distinction. Last time I checked all military personnel have an OBLIGATION to not follow UNLAWFUL ORDERS.pic.twitter.com/oI6N8ESCgg

Fun fact: "an order that has for its sole object a private end is unlawful..." US v Robinson, 20 CMR 63 (CMA 1955). Sounds a lot like bribery is unlawful....

If he is an active office, should he be court martialed for not obeying the chain of command?

No. Nothing he did violated the chain of command. You could argue that he might have leaked information that he should not have, but nothing presented in his testimony even hints at going around the chain of command. That is just GOP posturing to discredit him.
