I mean Pat Buchanan wrote a book called “a republic not an empire.” This is a real tendency on the right worth understanding. I’m not really sure why I’m supposed to refuse to engage with someone who wants to bring the troops home for the wrong reasons.

Nationalism doesnt mean the same thing in those countries. Nationalism in Ireland usually just means anti-Britain. Most people who identify as pro-nationalist in Ireland, save a small fringe, are pro-EU. SF is pro-EU, Greens are pro-EU, Labour is pro EU

Very few are pro-protectionism or anti-immigration. You only really get that from far-right Unionists up North and a tiny fringe of lunatic conspiracy theorists on the left. There arent many MAGA/Brexit types in the mainstream the way there are in the US/UK
