There are arguments that can be made that reopening schools is the right thing to do and the risk is worth it and/or can be mitigated. “Kids don’t die from COVID19” is not a sufficient argument by any means.

Thinking back to elementary school I feel like the majority of my teachers were in their 50s at the least. Several were much older. Are they planning to replace the entire faculty with student teachers?

And, "generally don't die" doesn't mean they don't suffer, or have long-term consequences. We don't know from long term consequences at this point because that much time just has not passed.

In Québec, the 15-64 mortality rate is more than 2.5 x normal rate. Not small. Proportionally as much as in over 64.
