If I remember correctly in app you can set up specific times where it doesn't send you a notification and sends them later.

I think that's what schedule digest does.pic.twitter.com/qp9eviNpWM

That does seem useful. I may even do it for the relatively few notifications I already get. Turns out the bell is kind of halfway rung by default for all subscribed channels in the Android app.pic.twitter.com/KsO24D8Vqv

Wtf!? Occasional? What does that even mean
@TeamYouTube how few or many is occasional. Occasional could be once a week or once every few months or once a year. Occasional: Definition- Occurring, appearing, or done infrequently and irregularly.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

So not only be sure to remind your viewers to ring that bell but also remind them to go into their personal setting and change a hidden setting to “All” instead of “Occasional”. I’m sure that’ll be easy to explain in a video & viewers will easily do that right

To be fair, the Occasional setting is on by default for all subscriptions. If you then go and tap the bell icon in the app, you'll discover the difference. As for what Occasional means, that's very unclear. I sometimes get zero notifications in a day and sometimes get several.

That’s the problem though. Occasional should not be default for everyone. Occasional is irregular & could be 1 out of every 10 videos or even fewer.

What do you think the default should be? Or should it even apply any notification settings when you hit the subscribe button?

Just going to chime in, personally I think the default for notifications should/could be based on how often you watch a channels content until you decide you want to change it in the settings. If you watch a channel often or all the time then you should get all notifications.

Yeah but some channels I come across I’m new & very much enjoyed the episode that I saw. So I’d like to start watching all the time. So if I hit notifications I’d want to be notified every time a new video comes up so I could watch them all the time.

Everyone has a different opinion. Some want notes, some don't. In another comment I said "maybe a pop up window asking how you want to be notified when you subscribe" could work better.
