I just want to get real for a moment. I don’t have the time to argue with people who engage in bad faith. Any talk of pandering, “forcing down your throat” and all that will be blocked without a second thought. If you have questions, be genuine and kind.

Queer people are more than our queerness, but it also can’t be ignored that our queerness affects how we interact with the world. Writing Osa – Anja – was a dream, and the process has helped me realize my own queerness in more complex ways than before.

It’s scary to be trans right now with all the hate going around, so I encourage cis people (that’s people who identify with the gender they were assigned at birth) to educate themselves on trans issues, and think about what they can do to bring positive change.

And a final note: I can’t speak to what this means to Ubisoft at large or the people I worked with, but to me it was a sigh of relief, and tears of joy – to know that I am not only allowed to write queer characters, but encouraged and supported.
