Well maybe... Concerned citizens might tackle him, hold him down with as many people as it takes, and hold him until the police get there to exercise their public mandate to him into custody. Just a thought. Kind of old fashioned. That still legal?

Theft increases prices for the rest of us. If they file a claim with their insurance, it increases insurance rates for them and every other business in their zip code, which increases prices for the rest of us.

More capitalist propaganda you took as “common sense” that isn’t. Market pressure will always ensure that retailers keep prices competitive (assuming commodification), so companies eat the vast majority of shrink. The same for insurance.

They can only eat so much of they are going to stay in business. That's why homeowners insurance goes up after a bad hail storm year. The point is, destructive behavior like this, in the aggregate, affects all of us.

The amount that they could eat is far beyond what could ever occur. Look, I’m not advocating for shoplifting. But focusing on this microscopic drop in the bucket vs the oceans of impropriety that corporations inflict by design is a distraction.

I agree this incident is microscopic, and not a big deal in the grand scheme. But the value that corporations bring to society needs to be protected. Walgreens brings convenience and affordable prices to their customers. Otherwise people wouldn't choose to shop there.
