Reporting that it exists isn’t normalizing it. Profiling a nazi as just some sort of normal disaffected person with weird views is normalizing it. Big difference.

Nate Silver’s tweet on this (which mirrors yours) has a nice discussion going. Good points on both sides. I just think it’s strange to see a journalist get shamed for reporting.

Thanks. I’ll take a look. I think we are all subject to criticism - reporters, politicians, business leaders, etc. Reporters, like politicians, play a critical role in our democracy. Also I didn’t criticize the reporter. I criticized the paper.

Because what makes people like this frightening is that they aren't biker gang savages with face tattoos stabbing other convicts. They're the regular joes who supported Hitler's rise. It isn't 'normalizing Nazis' to show their actual threat.
