Is there any reason why satellites don't have the ability to be sent on a trajectory to the Sun or something

Flying something into the Sun is harder than you might think. Anything we put into space inherits Earth's orbital speed around the Sun. To fly something into the Sun, it takes a lot of fuel to shed that velocity, and/or carefully planned gravity-assist flybys of Earth & Venus.

It should be dark enough here when it's happening, and the forecast shows mainly clear skies at the time (6:53 pm). We'd probably need a telescope to actually see it happen, though.
