Note for non-PMs: "Customers are the expert in their problem, not the solution. Customers most often express their problems through feature requests. But it is the product builder’s job to dig deeper and understand the actual need. That’s what they pay us for" 🎩 blog

The web is 25 years old, and signing up for and paying for things is still broken. Why do you have to create an account and make up a password? Why do you have to type in a number off a card in your pocket? There is a big opportunity here that will seem obvious in retrospect.

Same with "Swap" in the crypto world. Atomic Swap vs Swap (as a derivative product).

6/ That said, we're not pure decentralists over here. Centralized exchanges and OTC are the best places to access liquid markets, and will likely continue that way for a while. Our role is eliminating the settlement risk.

5/ Why does decentralized settlement matter? Because if we keep layering trusted parties into crypto trading, we might as well trade corn or oil. Each coin's blockchain can and should be used as a trustless agent, we're missing out on value.

4/ Bringing ETH support to Arwen is our next step in supporting the most liquid markets with the security guarantees of decentralized settlement. covers a lot of this in the latest podcast. Give it a listen:

3/ Aside from technical complication, pegs or wrapped coins can add another layer of trust when the whole point of blockchains is trustless exchange. Or, for traders, eliminating counterparty risk.

2/ Arwen started by building the infrastructure to support 'dumb' blockchains first... BTC, LTC, BCH. To date, getting these chains to talk to ETH and ERC20 has given us Rube Goldberg-esque pegs and sidechains.
