Maybe, just maybe, if you really don’t like a cuisine, don’t write about it like it’s some deep take? There’s a lot of Japanese cuisine I don’t like but I don’t pretend it’s something everyone needs to know about. STFU is always an option. Maybe it should be your default? https://twitter.com/geneweingarten/status/1429604672269176837 …

And to be clear I have a huge respect for the craft of Japanese chefs, I just haven’t done the work to appreciate it. I would never write something so fucking stupid as, “it’s all about one spice” in a major newspaper like

I haven't read the thing, because I'm trying SO HARD not to engage with clickbait, but I also got a very strong impression that by "one spice" he meant "curry", which is…not "one spice". They're not just putting the ground-up dried seeds of the Garam Masala plant in everything!

The screenshot makes it plain that’s what he thinks. Even the most charitable reading means he at least thinks all Indian food is spiced with the same mix.

maybe I'll put garam masala on my burger tonight as a pointless gesture of spite

damn, I didn't get any corn in the last CSA box, and I don't think it would be a great idea to walk a few blocks south and steal some from the impressive garden I pass on my runs.
