Sometimes I'm part of a discourse without being aware of it, then I'll emerge to realize that there even IS a "discourse" and I see people subtweeting the discourse and I get confused because it's like, I'M not saying that, are OTHER people saying that?

My "favorite" thing about these kinds of "discourse" is how people decide they're on one "side", and then pick out the most extreme or unreasonable position espoused by anyone on the other "side", even if it's a tiny account with very little reach, to amplify as evidence

And then they can dismiss anything anyone "on that side" says, because of the one unreasonable rando
