Does it seem weird to anyone else how the tone of all the news pieces on the Taliban rapidly retaking control of Afghanistan is "this is a shock, everyone thought the US-backed govt would endure forever" instead of "this is the least surprising thing ever"
of course the Taliban taking over again is very bad for the Afghan people, but surely after twenty years of folly we can try to recognize that just because something is bad doesn't mean we—i.e. the US—can, or should try to, fix it. sometimes trying just makes everything worse.
