Super cool and normal system where everyone praises the party in power, who represent tens of millions more people & won tens of millions more votes, for passing a bill doing less than half of what they promised, because they made extra sure the losing party got to make it worse.

I think maybe most "regular" people (i.e. not folks on this here hellsite) don't really think very much about the imbalance in actual representation in Congress, and just assume the proportions of Dems and Repubs roughly reflect the division of views in the population.
