I feel for trans people who are making their living publishing on Substack, though, that THEY are the ones told they have to move and inevitably lose subscribers

absolutely, and that's a tough circle to square, but at some point I feel like it ends up in "well sure wal-mart is evil but if you refuse to shop there you're punishing the _workers_!" territory and I don't think that's tenable
