As you can see by the rings, these are meant to be able to be attached to your keys. It’s a more effective version of holding your keys like a weapon. People probably just forgot they had it on there

A lot of those knives are just pocket knives, too, and I think I see a nail clipper? Calling some of those things "threats" is maybe a stretch

I generally don’t check baggage when I fly & thus would have to be without my Beer & Wine Emergency Keychain (bottle opener, corkscrew, tiny 1.5” knife blade for bottle foil)

sure, but on 9/11 they hijacked the planes by _getting into the cockpits_ with box cutters. locking cockpit doors during the flight was the one actually useful security measure implemented after 9/11.
