      Gawker loved to punch down, refused to take responsibility for its actions, and made its hay off setting marginalised people up for harassment. That was, explicitly, its brand. No, I’m not happy it's back.

      It’s possible to be delightfully snarky and take shitty people and institutions to task. I’d argue that it is, in fact, very necessary. Gawker didn’t have the range. It was a tarted up gossip mag that reveled in hate, very much a product of its time that aged like you’d expect.

      Lots of people loved reading Gawker for the dunks but they sure changed their minds when they were the ones being dunked. Is it going to be run differently now? Probably not, given that their website is wildly inaccessible and the current heds are vapid as hell.
