what an absurd, roundabout way to approach the question of "how do we make sure this good thing that people like and that benefits the economy, keeps happening"

I was out running an errand, and on the radio the news summary was saying Baker is signing a bill today to extend the pandemic measure allowing outdoor dining…by extending a moratorium on enforcement of zoning codes that would penalize restaurants for having outdoor dining.
