I'm honestly still not personally 100% convinced that modern electric cooktops are as "good" as gas ranges (though maybe I'd just need a period of adjustment)—but I also think that's completely irrelevant in the face of the environmental damage done by gas.
not to mention the complete inability of gas systems to prevent constant leaks
