Austin Powers came out almost 25 years ago; who in the target audience of children is going to get this reference? At least Casablanca (1942) has the excuse of being a classic...?https://twitter.com/SuperFoxcade/status/1416161427027501060 …

Fun fact: Kissmate had never seen any of the Austin Powers movies and I couldn't remember why I had sold my DVDs (classics! right?) and then we rented them and I remembered why I had been willing to give them up. Those movies did not age well.

Kids movies should be subjected to testing before release of, like, a room full of 13yos and if 70% of them don't get your clever references to, idk, Blazing Saddles or Saturday Night Live then you have to cut that scene.

YES, like, the scene *does not make sense* if you don't know who Dr. Evil is. Some referential humor works even if you don't know the source material; this scene does not.https://twitter.com/angrybooklady/status/1416267367248769024 …

Anyway, I hope everyone who watches this movie enjoys it very much and heads-up that you will have to explain Dr. Evil to any children in the room. Good luck!
