      Single or double space after period is a non-issue, as are all such formatting debates. Linters exist. Let someone write a paper according to their dotfile config, then read it linted through yours. This is a mostly solved problem in software.

      As recently as March I was still doing all my work in Notepad with my own markup lol (I still would be, except the CMS I currently use doesn't really support pasting that in well)

      When I’ve taught our intro HTML class I make them hand code everything but I’ll fight you over that <div> thing to the last man.

      I just mean in the context of if we used HTML as a markup language for papers—for actual websites with more complicated layout, div is necessary, but if you're just presenting text, the more semantic elements are better IMO
