I think a goal for the rest of this year is going to be getting the basement storage space cleared out and turned into a small workshop, with a workbench, pegboard, benchtop tablesaw, probably a benchtop planer, and a set of decent quality hand tools.
if I want to do work with reclaimed wood, which I think I'd like to, I think a planer is going to be an unavoidable necessity—with a sled for it, I can probably get by without also needing a jointer, at least. but jointing and planing strictly by hand is just too much work.

Yeah. I think for what I want to do, I can wait. But yeah what you're saying matches what I've seen in the videos I'm watching. I'm still a bit overwhelmed by it. Most of the 'maker' stuff I do comes with an undo button
