I've been doing this, myself. A friend of mine gave me a table saw, and I got a good set of craftsman hand tools. I'm hoping with jigs to put off getting a planer for a bit. I got a router with a plunge base, and chop saw is probably the next on the wishlist
if I want to do work with reclaimed wood, which I think I'd like to, I think a planer is going to be an unavoidable necessity—with a sled for it, I can probably get by without also needing a jointer, at least. but jointing and planing strictly by hand is just too much work.
Yeah. I think for what I want to do, I can wait. But yeah what you're saying matches what I've seen in the videos I'm watching. I'm still a bit overwhelmed by it. Most of the 'maker' stuff I do comes with an undo button
