Somewhere on Al Gore's internet there must be a good listing of "what tools and gear to buy for the best balance of versatility, space efficiency, and low cost to set up a small hobby woodshop"
lot to be said for a chop saw for sure, though I do already have a circ saw, which can substitute for many of the non-compound-angle uses.

With sufficient disregard for safety protocols, you can also use a circ saw as a table saw.
