Somewhere on Al Gore's internet there must be a good listing of "what tools and gear to buy for the best balance of versatility, space efficiency, and low cost to set up a small hobby woodshop"

Fwiw I use the chop saw more than the table saw, but that may just be that I mostly am doing light construction.

lot to be said for a chop saw for sure, though I do already have a circ saw, which can substitute for many of the non-compound-angle uses.

I'm not a woodworker but I am a fan of woodworking! What are you hoping to do/make? I have no advice, I'm just curious

My current project is a guitar amp cabinet for a 10" speaker, with a removable shelf so the amplifier circuit can be swapped outpic.twitter.com/coJiYxsyl2

I'm working with a circular saw, job site table saw, a radial arm saw, a cordless drill/driver set, and a kreg pocket hole jig. Recently added an oscillating saw. That's let me build a number of furniture items (bed, dresser, benches, etc) as well as re-framing a room.

Everything the table and radial saws can do, the circular saw can technically do, but it's so much faster and more accurate/repeatable with those.
