Look, airline. No one is going to VOLUNTEER to gate check their suitcase out of the goodness of their heart. If I got that thing through security, you will have to tear it away from me by force. Or at LEAST offer an incentive!!

I guess maybe I'm weird, but I absolutely _prefer_ checking a bag—it's such counterproductive nickel-and-diming that they charge (and keep hiking the fees!) to check bags.

one checked bag should always be included in the ticket, and if gate-checking a bag becomes necessary there should be a fee for THAT. I would SO much rather see my suitcase off at the counter, then breezily saunter onto the plane with just a small briefcase.

I’m not arguing against checked bags in general. Only gate checking. You should either have to put your whole suitcase through security OR wait for it a small lifetime at the baggage carousel. DOING BOTH??? No thank you!!!
