So they aren’t allowed to give data on the people who have the previous versions downloaded?
older versions don't have the telemetry code so it isn't possible for them to do.

my tweet says "isn't possible". to be clear, unless someone added malware to an installer, which I'm sure would have been reported on before now, Audacity versions up to and probably including 3.0.2 have no ability to report data to a remote server.
