When I started undergrad in 97, they still had student smoking lounges, and the coffeehouse in town allowed smoking. By the time I left the lounges were gone, and the coffeehouse had restricted smoking to evenings, and then disallowed it altogether.

I think Carleton still allowed smoking in dorm rooms when I was an undergrad there, too. Maybe not by '01–02.
