In North America, and many other places, cats are functionally an invasive predatory species. It's ethically (and should be legally) incumbent on anyone who has pet cats to keep them indoors unless they're on a harness and supervised, or in an enclosed outdoor cat run.

Maybe during a specific ground-nesting season, like when all the mama ducks are putting nests in people's yards (as the do here). Otherwise, it's offensively meddlesome.
