I was going to finally play the Outriders demo, but first the intro cinematic was incredibly unoriginal, paint-by-numbers stuff and then it required linking a square account just to play the demo, so I uninstalled that.

wait, so if you downloaded a demo during the steam "next fest" or whatever it was called, then after the event ended the demo is still installed, but…it won't let you launch it? what the fuck, that's the most ridiculous shit.

so then I was finally going to play the Fermi Paradox demo, but apparently that stopped working because the demo fest is over, which is a bit like amazon remotely deleting 1984 from people's kindles

I'm so old I remember when if you bought a thing or installed a program you just had it and could use it, unless you got rid of it/uninstalled it.

I've never before seen it stop offering the option to even try to launch a game that I had legitimately added to my library and installed. even games they've delisted, that don't have store pages anymore, I can still reinstall and play.
