it's literally just acting! it's just acting. everyone can do acting. it's not a "white women" thing.

there's an OBSESSION on left twitter with the idea that white women are constantly using crocodile tears to get Black folks killed but it seems to me that the people who do the violence have some agency in this equation? white men are not just a gun that white women aim and fire?

yeah I would agree. like, of course there’s a history to this dynamic and it has existed! but violent white men have been using “protect the pure womanhood” as an excuse for centuries regardless! & that’s not necessarily the main dynamic at play in a lot of police shootings now.

and making that framing encompass ALL of police violence flattens the issue when there are other factors at play. In videos of these encounters the masculinity & power of white cops is clearly validated by abusing Black men! white women don’t necessarily enter into it every time

it seems like a misfire bc it also completely ignores the reality of Black women being in danger from white cops!! There are so many more relevant gendered dynamics at play here.

my understanding is that that's specifically some kind of vampire diaries fandom thing, though? without that context it seems bad for sure!

(last thing—source re: Vampire Diaries, though I don't know about the "gross to watch white women cry on command" bit at the end, because again, that's just acting, lots of people can do that https://www.vice.com/en/article/n7b3m7/why-are-white-women-fake-crying-on-tiktok …)
