I haven't read _Piranesi_ yet, I do need to get a copy of that. I suppose I shouldn't say I wish there was a Strange & Norrell sequel, since I know Clarke had a very difficult time after that was published.

I think it's really, really good. One of those that starts out a little slow, but only because it's lulling the reader into a false sense of security, and then gets absolutely wild.

god I love that book. Which is funny, because I so very rarely enjoy books either from the Regency era or echoing its style AND YET that one sucks me in every time. Ladies of Grace Adieu alas does not follow Mrs. Strange or Mrs. Pole but is a fun addendum.

I feel like Clarke does SUCH a deft job of threading almost cosmic-horror levels of magical weirdness into the Regency pastiche, so that when Shit Gets Going in the back half you really feel the characters' world being upended.
