yeah, that's what I was responding to! I thought christian "modesty" culture tended to think pants are for men/boys and women/girls should wear dresses.
In some of the much more conservative cultures, yeah. But this kind (the kind I grew up with) is just “fully covered” not necessarily skirts vs slacks.
I grew up with that version too and they were VERY concerned that it be “slacks” and not “dance pants”, on account of the immodesty of the latter. Dance pants for everyday wear (like, ppl wore them to work in target) were just… stretchy work pants?
