if "being a housewife" solely entailed "hang[ing] out in the garden…mak[ing] delicious food, and spend[ing] as much time on [your] art as [you] want," then shit, sign me up, who wouldn't want that? now look at the socioeconomic structures that prevent most people from having it.

That's not being a housewife, that's what I like to tell people is *my* dream job: being independently wealthy. Being a housewife when you're *not* independently wealthy is a lot more cleaning and mending and budgeting and planning. Sounds like they outsource that.

And SOURCE: I'm a stay at home parent. I don't work outside the home. It's a privileged choice and I'm glad we made it but it's not the same as being rich unoccupied.
