seriously, though, Mass Effect 1 absolutely NAILS its first couple hours. Eden Prime, the Geth, Nihlus and Saren, the beacon, and then the first time you see the Citadel. just great stuff.
and, having only played it on 360 before, the Legendary edition's mouse-and-keyboard controls feel pretty good. I'm playing Vanguard this time, I think I did Infiltrator before.
also, for some reason the ME:LE "trading cards" on steam seem to be selling for surprisingly high SteamBux prices, around $0.50 when for most games they're in the $0.03–0.07 range IME
it _is_, however, deeply stupid that from Steam it has to launch Origin in order to launch the launcher for the game
I think ME1LE is a massive improvement from the original port but I found a bunch of it to be a little ham-fisted for today. But for a 360 launch title? Still holds up in many ways - in more ways than many modern titles do!
yeah, I feel like it does a really good job giving you the flavor of the world quickly and without too much exposition, and the first encounter with the Geth and the Husks is great.
