really enjoying @mountain_goats' youtube videos lately. it's an interesting tension, to me, how JD talks often about songwriting as mere labor, but as in today's video, also seems to have a somewhat mystical attitude, whereby one channels rather than controls the artistic output

Of course! Bad choice of word on my part, I just meant in the sense that art-making isn't some separate, ethereal, non-labor type of activity.
