there are also a lot of genuinely hard jobs that do need a lot of labor, but there's no reason (well, no _good_ reason) employers couldn't just hire more people to each work less, so the important work still gets done.
everyone has a fundamental right to sufficient, healthy food and clean water, safe shelter, fully adequate healthcare, and leisure, entertainment, and recreation. to make fundamental rights dependent on producing surplus value that a capitalist pockets as profit is immoral.
(and anyone who says "no one who works full-time"—or worse, "no one who works 40 hours a week"—"should live in poverty", yes, even Grandpa BS, is, if not necessarily your enemy, then at best not fully your ally yet.)
I'm actually one of the people who's job it is to provide clean water and that's still true for us. Knowledge and availability during emergencies is far more important than the actual 40 hours.
