the standard work week should be four five-hour days, that should be considered full-time, and the minimum wage should be such that full-time work (as defined in this tweet) pays enough to support a family https://twitter.com/InternetHippo/status/1403369443846131719 …

there are also a lot of genuinely hard jobs that do need a lot of labor, but there's no reason (well, no _good_ reason) employers couldn't just hire more people to each work less, so the important work still gets done.

everyone has a fundamental right to sufficient, healthy food and clean water, safe shelter, fully adequate healthcare, and leisure, entertainment, and recreation. to make fundamental rights dependent on producing surplus value that a capitalist pockets as profit is immoral.

(and anyone who says "no one who works full-time"—or worse, "no one who works 40 hours a week"—"should live in poverty", yes, even Grandpa BS, is, if not necessarily your enemy, then at best not fully your ally yet.)

Yes! & ugh cut out the performative meetings. In one job I had to spend a whole day of every week at hq away from my team and my actual job just to a) be seen b) praise the senior team, sigh. And it was all couched in a say what you see this is a safe space and... Wasn't.

Particularly when a loved one had cancer, I was sitting there going I can actually feel my life ticking away while I'm here and this isn't how anyone should spend it! Less bs, more quality of life!

Hi it’s me! I often feel weird about it because many of my friends have more of those “I work 60-80 hours a week doing a job 4 or more people should be doing” and I wonder if something is wrong with me that I’m like “yeah most of my day is looking for ways to fill the time.”
-
And then people are like “why don’t you ask your boss for more responsibility” and I’m like, “no, you don’t understand, I don’t want to do more, I just want reassurance I won’t get in trouble for doing my job tasks and nothing more.”
