there are a lot of jobs where on average workers only really do 3–4 hours of productive work a day even though they're "at work" much longer.

there are also a lot of genuinely hard jobs that do need a lot of labor, but there's no reason (well, no _good_ reason) employers couldn't just hire more people to each work less, so the important work still gets done.
