it is, frankly, very very bad that the "thin blue line" flag, which is an explicitly fascist symbol, has become the automatic, reflexive, default way to say "get well soon" to an injured person who works in law enforcement
the whole "thin blue line" concept is fascist, you can't decontextualize it and pretend it's just some anodyne, generic "support". (and it's fine to hope a hurt or sick person recovers, but you shouldn't "support" the police as an institution _anyway_.)
the "thin blue line" says: there is a large, permanent, inherently criminal and ungovernable class of people, who will cause society to collapse into violence and chaos if designated agents of the state are not free to enact violence _against_ them.
this is a fascist idea. you can't salvage anything about it.
