we could have delivered far, far more money than the meager relief payments to workers, so they could afford to stay home without worrying about losing their homes.

we could have given lots and lots of money to public schools to help develop better remote curricula, and lots and lots of money to state and local governments to ensure all schoolchildren were safe, healthy, fed, and had internet access for remote learning.
