(my Reader take remains that it wasn't Reader dying that killed the blog era, but Reader having lived in the first place. like a walmart opening, driving all of main street out of business, and then closing.)

No, but it had a distinct, palpable impact on the culture, and blogs stopped. I used substitutes for a long time but they faded without it.

I just think if one service shutting down destroys a whole ecosystem, that ecosystem already wasn't healthy. In Reader's case, it was google that _made_ the ecosystem unhealthy, and then cut out its last remaining support. But we could build new ecosystems.
