it is not fair, or just, or legitimate, to insist that all adult conduct and discourse be held to a standard of "safe for children," even if that standard weren't, in practice, a constantly shifting set of goalposts.

BESIDES which, I very strongly suspect a lot of these arguments aren't _actually_ about whether _kids_ are comfortable, but about whether their parents who think kink is harmful or shameful are uncomfortable with the thought of having to explain why that man is wearing a dog mask

tbh: I’m actually pretty okay with how TC pride does things. Each section of the park is color-coded by type of vendor, and the kinksters/more explicit stuff is in a section that’s designated 18+. No one *CHECKS* but it resolves the “zomg my kid saw a dildo!” complaint.

I mean, most Prides have family specific events. Take the kids to that.

and everybody on the anti-side seems convinced that if you let leather daddies march in the pride parade the whole city will turn into the Folsom Street Fair. that's not how anything works!

lol I’m absolutely sure that it’s not. fuck them kids

I genuinely don't think most of what kids might encounter of kink community representation at most pride events is remotely likely to be very uncomfortable or confusing—let alone _harmful_—to them, in the first place! But even if it were, not everything has to be FOR kids.

I don't know why, but a lot of minors on here are saying they don't feel comfortable just seeing folks in fetish gear. and being children, they think they are entitled to spaces they've never been over folks who have spent their whole lives fighting for that space.
