yeah I'm actually pretty sure that's not why, though. there are many things wrong with how we (fail to) prioritize and fund social services in the US, and many things wrong with our foreign policy, but the former is not _because of_ the latterpic.twitter.com/3IYc0or0zg
(you could probably make a strong argument that they both have the same root cause, but that's a different claim. the reason we don't have free school lunch or universal healthcare isn't "the money went to foreign military aid instead.")
I promise it's possible—it's not even very hard!—to argue for good domestic policy and against bad foreign policy without making weird, bad, zero-sum arguments grounded in a fundamental misunderstanding of how the US budgets and funds things.
