like, yeah, it's not "mask addiction" or "toxic mask culture" (whatever the fuck that means) or "not wanting the pandemic to end" because those are all obviously absurd ideas.

but it's not ONLY hypervigilance-as-trauma-reaction, but it's not NOT that. and it's not ONLY that the pandemic isn't fucking over but it's sure not NOT that. and it's not ONLY about signaling that you care about fellow humans, but it's not NOT that.
